Based at Mowbray Racecourse in Launceston, this role will contribute and strive to achieve Tasracing's corporate goals, promote Tasracing's values, develop and manage effective stakeholder relationships.
Reporting to the Senior Track & Racing Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Mowbray racecourse. This role will oversee the maintenance of all racing facilities and infrastructure, including all three codes at the Mowbray Racecourse with a focus on building and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities of the role are:
- Provide leadership to the grounds staff, manage and monitor programs for the maintenance and restoration work of the three tracks to deliver high racing standards
- Coordination and management of assets and infrastructure
- Effective organisation and day to day management of Mowbray racecourse racing and training facilities, including rostering and management of workers
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external
- Preparation of budgets and reporting of budget information to executive management
- Develop and implement policies and procedures
- Be familiar with Work Health and Safety Management Systems and ensure compliance
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Tertiary Qualifications and/or extensive industry and professional skills relating to sports turf surfaces for professional sport
- Demonstrate a proven track record in preparation of surfaces for professional sport
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work confidentially, with tact and discretion
- Proven track record in effectively leading a diverse team
- Available to work varied hours including nights, weekends and public holidays as required
- Sound knowledge of information technology and computing practices including Microsoft Office programs
- Hold a C Class Driver's licence
- Knowledge of the racing industry and proven experience within similar role (desirable)
