Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic
Trade and Compliance Specialist to enhance our import/export operations and maintain our high standards of compliance.
Key Responsibilities:Coordinate Trade Activities:
- Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, agents, and transport providers to ensure timely and efficient shipments.
- Drive best practices and continuous improvement in our import/export processes.
- Oversee international logistics from suppliers to warehouse receipt.
- Maintain precise records for import/export transactions, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, permits, licenses, customs declarations, and Compliance reports.
- Engage with governmental bodies for product classifications, certifications, and trade reporting.
- Negotiate and secure competitive rates with brokers and other agents.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines to guide Montu’s import/export processes.
- Provide expert guidance on compliance requirements, documentation, and procedures.
- Stay current with evolving regulations, tariffs, and sanctions.
- Ensure all import/export activities comply with applicable laws, minimizing risks of delays, fines, and penalties.
- Develop and implement compliance programs, including policies, procedures, and training.
- Liaise with the TGA, Office of Drug Control, and the Australian Border Force.
- Manage import permit applications and maintain compliance records.
Risk Assessments:
- Assess and mitigate risks related to import/export activities.
- Identify potential compliance gaps and recommend strategies to address them.
Managing Audits and Investigations:
- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to trade laws.
- Support external audits and work promptly to rectify any compliance issues.
Qualifications4+ years of experience working with Imports and exports, Pharmaceutical space, raw material – natural products and or commodities.Bachelor’s degree in business, law or related field.Previous experience in import/export, legal or regulatory compliance environment is essential.Understanding of trade regulations, tariffs and sanctions.Understanding the Medical Cannabis industry would be advantageous.Current Satisfactory Police Check.
