QMS NDT & NACE are a South Australian/Western Australian based company that provide a range of survey, inspection and non-destructive testing services to the defence, mining, and manufacturing industries across metropolitan and regional South Australia and Western Australia.
QMS has an excellent opportunity for suitably experienced and competent Trades Assistants to work on various projects. Rosters and site locations may vary and we are seeking reliable individuals who are flexible and willing to travel across different sites as required. We have multiple positions available.
The position will be based at Osborne SA/Henderson WA, hours will generally be Monday to Friday with occasional overtime required.
Trades Assistant Role:
- Assist with visual inspections
- Light fabrication and preparation of steel (blending, burring, grinding and linishing) within confined spaces
- Perform Confined Space Sentry (Spotter) duties and undertake general workshop/yard cleanliness duties as required
- General labouring duties
- Managing WHS and environmental hazards in the workplace
- Reporting to assigned managers
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant experience as a Trades Assistant or similar role
- Experience with the operation of pneumatic tooling (e.g. pencil grinders and angle grinders)
- Able to work in a confined space
- Must be reliable with good communication skills and a team player
- Understanding of WH&S requirements and responsibilities
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Reasonable level of health and fitness
- Current driver’s licence
- Australian Citizen
- Must be prepared to undertake a national police check and pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing
- Current resume with at least 2 checkable work references
Desired Requirements:
- Experience working on large projects or in an industrial environment
- Certificate or trade qualifications in a relevant field
- Confined Space certification
- Construction Industry White Card
