What you’ll be doing
We’re looking for a Mechanically or Electrically minded Trades Assistant to join our energetic and fast paced team on day shift (6am-2pm) in Dee Why. You will be reporting into Maintenance and Production Manager and will be responsible for assisting the daily operations of the maintenance team for the site.
You will actively participate in routine general tasks to support the Mechanical Fitters, Industrial Electricians and Stores Departments, providing continuous support to ensure optimal presentation of all maintenance areas as instructed. You must be willing to work a rotating shift work roster to be considered.
The Trade Assistant in responsible for, but not limited to:
- Maintain a clean working environment at all times including wire drawing dyes, Dye Shop, tools room, etc
- Repair damaged tooling
- Mechanical repairs which may include welding, the use of hand and electric tools, gas torch, oven/Balanga etc
- Perform general assistance for technician tasks such as breakdowns as required under supervision.
- Inspections of safety equipment
- Self-manage and work autonomously on projects and reporting requirements to meet deadlines
- Ability to acquire rapid knowledge to perform several duties as directed by Supervisor
What you’ll need:
- Mechanical or Electrical aptitude with min 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Current Forklift License (high reach) with min 2 years experience
- Understanding of relevant HSE regulations, standards, and practices
- Strong eye for detail
- Experience with hand and electric tools
- Willingness to carry out tasks as instructed and show initiative
- Ability to communicate and work with others
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team focussed environment
- Physically fit
- Positive attitude and able to work a part of a team
