About the Opportunity
Parkes Shire Council is looking for a Traffic Control Team Leader to join our Operations team in Parkes, NSW. This role involves overseeing and coordinating Traffic Control operations to ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic in construction zones and roadwork areas.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and supervise a small team of Traffic Control assistants, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Coordinate with project managers and authorities to plan and execute Traffic Control strategies for construction projects and events.
- Set up and maintain Traffic Control devices, including signs, cones and barricades.
- Direct traffic using designated methods to safely guide motorists through construction zones or roadwork areas.
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust Traffic Control measures as needed.
- Report any traffic incidents, hazard or equipment issues as required.
- Assist with works survey set out.
- Engaging in team activities and contributing to a positive team environment

About You
To qualify, you will hold a General Construction Induction Card (White Card), a current driver's licence, Traffic Control qualifications: Traffic Controller and Traffic Management Plan Implementer and relevant hands-on experience in a similar role or industry.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Experience in civil construction or maintenance
- Traffic Control qualifications: Prepare a Work Zone Traffic Management Plan
- Medium Rigid (MR) NSW Drivers Licence
- Certificate in Civil Construction or trade qualification or equivalent
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and electronic device usage skills

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.
The role has been evaluated as being Grade 7 of Council's salary structure and offers a competitive salary circa $58,000 to $66,000 ($29 to $33 per hour) (depending on skills and experience) plus super and salary packaging options to increase your take-home pay.
