Job description

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are looking for experienced analysts who are keen to work outdoors, have excellent driving records, and don’t mind spending long periods in a vehicle with a colleague. The position contract is full-time; however, the hours may vary as per the project's need. We work across a 7-day roster.

In addition to being a member of our data analytics team, you will also be a member of our team of trained field technicians installing survey equipment (including hammering nails into the road surface for ATC data logger installations or installing cameras on poles on the side of the road). You will be an experienced Field Team Leadand assist with recruiting and training new field technicians. You will undertake field checks to ensure that the data is recorded per the project scope and that equipment has retained its initial configuration throughout the survey period. Where outages or aberrations are identified, you will reset or repair the equipment or re-lay the road tube. Once the data is back at the office, you will be involved in the processing and analysis of the traffic and transport data.

Job duties will not be limited to:

  • Continually review Austraffic analytic software for ease of use and report presentation and recommend improvements as they’re identified to the Principal Analyst and/or Project Manager
  • Log survey updates and ensure site details and resources are recorded and equipment allocated.
  • Continually review AusTraffic Data management systems to ensure ease of use, fit for purpose design with a focus on automation for standardising data processing
  • Influence systems design to assist with timely and accurate completion of data processing and reporting tasks
  • Assist with the testing and implementation of software, including field, processing and analysis applications and report any bugs or errors found
  • Escalate unresolved or incomplete activities as necessary to ensure timely closure of projects.
  • Provide formatted results to clients with outage and observation details and reports
  • Liaise with clients to clarify site information or discuss as directed by the Project Manager

As surveys are often undertaken in regional areas, you may be required to work away from home for 3-4 days at a time (we provide accommodation and meal allowances).

We are looking for individuals with a high level of attention to detail and who take pride in doing a task well. Your ability to self-manage and work within a team environment are essential.

Data quality control is critical to us, and you must be able to maintain high standards across all areas of Data Collection, processing and analysis.

Skills and Experience

  • You must hold a full Australian driver’s license and have a good driving history.
  • You must hold a Construction Induction Safety certificate (White Card)
  • You will be alert and hazard aware as you will be working in/near live traffic.
  • You will have excellent English comprehension and written and verbal communication skills.
  • You must have a formal qualification.
  • You must have at least 3 years experience working in data analysis
  • You must have the right to live and work in Australia and have no restrictions on the number of hours you can work each week (e.g. you must not be on a student or other limited work visa).
