The Role

The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines is an historic and transformative endeavour for Australia. The duties of an APS 5 Administration Officer in the Australian Submarine Agency include the following: 

  • Perform complex tasks and activities, work to agreed priorities and outcomes that support the delivery of procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities across Defence. 
  • Accountable to respond to complex operational, procedural, administrative and business support related enquiries and apply the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to provide advice and services. 
  • Identify and interpret relevant legislation, work practices, procedures and policies and apply these to the work area. 
  • Explain and apply the operational, technical and resources requirements of an activity and assist in the coordination, delivery and reporting of that activity. 
  • Work collaboratively and operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.

Within the Administration function an APS 5 Administration Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce. 

They are accountable to have and maintain a well developed understanding of and compliance to with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and ASA’s mission and policy requirements.
