Reporting to the Manager Assets and Maintenance, the Traffic Engineer provides professional Traffic Engineering input to support innovative traffic management outcomes and the implementation of the City's traffic and on street parking programs.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Lead the development of policies, reports and strategic plans related to traffic and pedestrian management and parking.
- Provide expert traffic-related advice to inform urban planning development assessment across all scales of development
- The investigation and review of customer enquiries, complaints and planning referrals relating to transport, road safety and traffic management.
- Provide onsite engineering expertise and technical support to ensure the planning, implementation and maintenance of traffic management is carried out accordingly within specified guidelines in line with strategic projects.
- Managing innovative contemporary traffic design projects to support a range of development activities.
- Manage the planning, development and implementation of transport and traffic management projects, programs and activities that meet Council's strategic direction.
- Provide specialist transport and traffic technical advice and support to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with DIT, other Government Departments and Developers on transport aspects of major projects and significant land / boundary divisions (inter-agency liaison).
- Undertake community consultation to inform traffic management improvements being considered for implementation where impacts to parking are being proposed, including effectively closing out with decision made to impacted community.
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Traffic and Transport Management and extensive experience in a range of traffic and transport engineering functions including parking, traffic impact assessments, transport strategy development and traffic modelling. You will have a strong understanding of traffic and car parking design principles and practices. You will possess highly developed interpersonal, time management, negotiation and diplomacy skills. Your solution focussed approach combined with your ability to effectively prioritise and collaborate ensures delivery of exceptional stakeholder engagement and customer experience.
