About the team
The exciting full-time 12-month opportunity based at a one of City’s depots, will form part of a team undertaking maintenance works across the City’s assets including bridges, buildings, parks, roads, beaches, canals, lakes and stormwater drainage. In the role of Maintenance Trainee, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of manual labour and small plant operations associated with the delivery of maintenance tasks within our City.
You will also undertake formal training and assessment with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) which will lead to a nationally recognised qualification in construction. This training is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through its Skilling Queensland for Work Initiative – First Start Program. The program aims to provide young people and disadvantaged Queensland job seekers with opportunities to gain a nationally recognised qualification and 12 months on the job experience.

What you’ll be responsible for:
- Undertaking maintenance of stormwater drainage manholes, gully pits, inlet/outlet structures, pipelines and associated works in a safe manner in line with implemented processes and procedures.
- Surface and pavement restoration of asphalt roads, carparks and footpaths/bikeways.
- Lay and finish concrete for kerb and channel, footpaths, bikeways and associated works.
- Perform other duties as directed from time to time by the Leading Hand, provided that such duties are within the expectations of the position.
- Ability to operate minor equipment and machinery associated with various works tasks.
