We are currently seeking an experienced leader to join the Opera Australia Technical team as a Senior Resources Manager, based at The Opera Centre in Surry Hills. This role is responsible for implementing and managing the comprehensive recruitment, negotiations, contracting, and onboarding processes for all employees within the Technical Production department. This role ensures effective day-to-day management of employee relations and issue resolution, fostering a harmonious work environment. In partnership with the Finance and People Team, this role also manages resources and budgetary planning.
This is a full-time, 2 year fixed-term contract.
Key Areas of focus
People Operations
- Implement and manage the recruitment, negotiations, contracting, and onboarding process of all employees in the Technical Production department.
- Lead the day-to-day management of employee relations and issue resolution.
- Oversee the implementation of the Opera Australia Enterprise Agreements for relevant employees.
- Review and provide staffing recommendations for all productions and projects, including forward planning of the core team.
- Partner with line managers to assess staffing needs and optimize workforce planning.
- Oversight of payroll submission, including roster review and management of TOIL and Leave.
- Manage resources and budgetary planning, including oversight of forecasts and actuals, in partnership with Finance and People business partners.
- Oversee contracts with suppliers, ensuring that these are delivered in line with company standards.
We are seeking candidates who have high level problem solving and judgement skills. You will have advanced attention to detail, as well as time management.
You will have:
- 5+ years’ leadership experience, and a capacity for strategic thinking;
- Experience in managing diverse seasonal workforce requirements
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Well-developed financial and budget management skills
- Excellent Microsoft Suite skills, and the willingness to learn new systems
- Strong contract negotiation and management skills
- Specific experience in the technical aspects of performing arts production
- Familiarity with Enterprise Agreements
