Trainee Mechanical Testing Technician

Opportunity
We are seeking applications from trainees who are keen to peruse a career in Mechanical Testing.
Administration
- Ensuring adequate levels of test equipment / consumables.
- Other tasks as required by Mechanical Testing Manager
Technical (All duties are conducted under the supervision of a Qualified Technician until suitably qualified
- Conduct routine metallurgical examinations of test specimens.
- Prepare test specimens using appropriate tools including water jet cutting, hand tools and band saws
- General workshop duties
- Conduct chemical analysis and positive material identification of materials and products.
- Report the findings of tests and examinations to compile formal reports for review.
Quality
- Work with integrity and ensure compliance with and understanding of NATA Rules, ISO 17025 and Metlabs Quality Manual.
General
- Work safely within the limits of the company safety policy and instructions.
- To fully embrace teamwork principles in every aspect of laboratory activities.
- Represent and promote Metlabs & IRISNDT in a positive and professional fashion at all times.
- Where appropriate, to work methodically to written job processing and testing procedures.
- To actively participate in the maintenance of a clean and tidy laboratory environment.
- To ensure that laboratory and workshop equipment under your control is maintained in good order and condition.
- Other tasks as required by Mechanical Testing Manager
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Good verbal and written skills.
- Good written comprehension skills.
- Secondary school certificate with evidence of success in Maths and Science, or technical or university qualification in engineering or associated field.
- Competence in the use of hand and power tools.
- Experience with MS Office suite of programs.
- Current WA drivers' licence.
