Make a meaningful difference with Lifeline

We’re looking for someone who wants to make the world a little better through small moments that leave big impacts. To build meaningful relationships and make a difference in the lives of others.

An integral part of our Lifeline Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention team as a Trainer, you’ll be encouraged to grow, develop and feel empowered to make the everyday easier for the people we care so passionately about.

Let’s make a meaningful difference, together.

Your part in our Lifeline team

The Lifeline QLD Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention team, part of UnitingCare Family and Disability Services, is planning for growth! Lifeline is a trusted national charity that has been saving lives for 60 years. The national 13 11 14 Crisis Support service, Human Assisted Digital Crisis Support services (text and chat) and 13YARN Crisis Support Service offer support to people in crisis and emotional distress. There is an ever-increasing demand for support through these channels and Lifeline QLD needs a strong focus on training, support and retention of Crisis Supporters both paid staff and volunteers, to be able to meet demand.

Put your training and Assessing skills and experience to use to support people in crisis.  Join our Lifeline Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention team in QLD, part of UnitingCare Family and Disability Services.

In the Trainer and Assessor role, you will report to the Crisis Support Training Co-ordination and Quality Lead and be responsible for delivering training outcomes that meet Lifeline Queensland’s state-wide needs, and that comply with Lifeline Australia’s RTO requirements (Training is delivered on behalf of Lifeline Australia RTO 88036). You will deliver (predominantly online) the initial Crisis Supporter Workplace Training (CSWT) to our volunteers and assess competency. The role will also require you to support and develop a team of volunteer student mentors to support CSWT.

What makes a difference for us?

The successful candidate will have a strong background in delivery of accredited training and have demonstrated experience working within a Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention service. Recent Lifeline Crisis Support and Training experience will be highly regarded.

Supplementing this you will present with the following:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Demonstrated competency in training and development, in particular:
  • achieving quality outcomes with skills-based training, and
  • delivering online training via Zoom or Teams.
  • Demonstrated competency in Crisis Support, preferably as an accredited Lifeline Crisis Supporter.
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively and supportively with volunteers.
  • A high level of computer literacy and experience in using Microsoft Office and online platforms such as Zoom or Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly in a small team and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including capacity to give and receive constructive feedback and to respond reflectively.
  • Well-developed organisational and co-ordination skills
  • A current blue card (or be willing to obtain)
  • An open QLD drivers licence
  • Willingness to undergo a personal history check
  • Ability to work within the beliefs, mission, values and policies of UnitingCare Community and adhere to the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant Legislation as they apply to the region’s services.
What makes a difference for you?

At Lifeline, our job is to walk alongside people to achieve positive change and growth. As a respected industry leader and one of Queensland’s largest community service providers we are leaders in crisis response, the protection of vulnerable children, financial resilience, and family wellbeing.

  • Flexible work arrangements to support work-life balance
  • Save tax and increase your take home pay by salary packaging your everyday living expenses and bills (up to $15,900) and meal entertainment (up to $2,650) per annum
  • A recognition and rewards platform, providing employee discounts at hundreds of retailers, including everyday expenses, holidays, health insurance, annual awards celebration, wellbeing and employee assistance programs
  • A positive and inclusive team based on respect, shared standards, strong values and a commitment to serving others
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave and 2 weeks paid partner leave, available after 6 months service, in addition to the government scheme
  • Diversity and inclusive leave, offering paid gender affirmation leave and cultural leave options (paid and unpaid) for those who may celebrate Lunar New Year, Diwali, Ramadan, NAIDOC weeks and other significant cultural events
  • Career development opportunities to challenge yourself, grow and make a meaningful difference
