The opportunity

We are looking for motivated individual who is passionate about working with young people to join the Workskills team as the TtW Intake Coordinator. To succeed in this role, you will have outstanding communication and organisational skills and have demonstrated experience in working with young people and stakeholders.

The TtW service is an important part of Workforce Australia services in Tasmania, annually supporting young people aged 15-24 achieve their life, work and education goals.

As the TtW Intake Coordinator, you will design and deliver activities to broaden the reach of TtW, directly impacting the number of young people seeking support for the program. Bringing a high level of coaching skill and expertise, the Intake Coordinator work collaboratively with the Youth Programs team internal and external stakeholders to design and deliver tailored activities and coaching tools for specific cohorts of TtW participants. As the Intake Coordinator you will maintain an active coaching function, working with young people to achieve their goals and managing a small caseload of participants as required.

You will be supported to:

  • Coordinate the delivery of outreach and engagement activities with the aim of increasing registrations to the TtW Program.
  • Directly manage all incoming referrals and direct registrations for TtW to maximise program commencements in a timely manner.
  • Design and deliver targeted programs, activities and coaching tools for targeted cohorts of TtW participants including, but not limited to, early school leavers, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide client-centred, strengths-based coaching for TtW Participants in accordance with the TtW Service Delivery Manual and the TtW Deed, managing a caseload of Participants as required.
  • Meet individual performance targets aligned with the TtW Performance and Quality Framework and contribute to the achievement of team and whole-of-service performance targets.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will have:
Essential:

  • Extensive experience working with young people, including early school leavers, Aboriginal young people and those from a refugee or migrant background, with a sound understanding of the support young people require to achieve work and education outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to Work in partnership with education providers, community organisations, and individuals to maintain positive working relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • An innovative and strategic mindset focused on program growth and continuous improvement, with sound project management competencies.
  • Well-developed skills in case management, tailoring services for individual clients; managing diverse caseloads with empathy and professionalism; applying service guidelines and models; and use of digital case management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to engage effectively with young people, and collaborate professionally with colleagues and external service providers.
  • Provision of a current satisfactory National Criminal Record Check, and registration to Work with Vulnerable People in Tasmania.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Educational qualifications in a relevant field 
  • Current Tasmanian driver’s licence.
