IDEAL Placements is a Not-for-Profit Community organisation that has been helping people achieve their employment goals across the Mackay region for 28 years.
With recent success in the Workforce Australia employment service program tender, we were successful in continuing the delivery of Transition to Work (TtW 15-24 years) and awarded Career Transition Assistance (CTA 45 years and over). We are also the only 5-star provider in the Mackay region providing personalised support in our Disability Employment Services program.
About the Role
The Transition to Work (TtW) Employment Consultant will have responsibility to provide service supports to young people aged 15-24 years who are considered at risk of long-term unemployment.
The TtW Employment Consultant will support participants through each stage of the employment service process from initial contact, identifying areas for development, upskilling, training, placing into suitable activities, arranging non-vocational referrals to community-based support networks, and creating future employment opportunities.
Effective caseload management is required to support barrier management and ability to Work with participates to improve their job readiness to meet the local labour market demands.

Key Responsibilities
In this role you will assist participants with their vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment and seek employment and education placements whilst actively supporting them throughout their journey.
Your key responsibility includes, but are not limited to:
- Build and maintain effective relationships with participants, employers, and other key stakeholders.
- Undertake detailed assessments and facilitate appropriate referrals.
- Create and maintain detailed action plans for each participant.
- Set reasonable and achievable goals and work with participants to overcome barriers to improve their skills and job readiness.
- Provide job search assistance and offer a variety of activities to be delivered through individual or group participation.
- Maintain regular contact with each participant to provide ongoing support.
- Record all contact with participants, employers, and key stakeholders in approved third party employment service program on day of contact and retain required documentary evidence.
- Build effective relationships with employers and a range of organisations in order to generate suitable vacancies for participants.
Qualifications & Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Knowledge or an interest in Employment Service sector.
- Knowledge and application of employment services DEED and guidelines, desirable but not essential.
- Self-motivation, be inspiring, energetic, results driven and reliable work ethic.
- Ability to gather information, negotiate, and problem-solve and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of computer literacy is essential.
- Ability to deliver activities to small groups of participants, to prioritise workload, use initiative and multi-task.
- Professional personal presentation.
- Ability to obtain and retain:
- Driver’s License
- Working with Children Blue Card
- Worker Screening Card.
This is a full-time role based in Bowen ongoing employment until June 2027.
