About us
The Trauma Service, an integral part of the Department of General Specialist Surgery at RMH. Proudly serving as one of Victoria's two adult major trauma services, we hold dual Trauma designation by both the Victorian State Trauma System and The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
The Trauma Service integrates with specialist surgical, anaesthetic, intensive care, and emergency department services, to care for Victoria’s most seriously injured patients.
RMH annually admits more than 5,000 patients, with over 1,300 suffering from serious multiple injuries, necessitating urgent surgical interventions, specialized care, and potential ICU admission. In 2023, our trauma service admitted 2,701 patients, nearly half of whom required management for major trauma cases. Our primary focus is on delivering patient-centered care to this diverse and complex patient population, a significant portion of whom hail from regions outside metropolitan Melbourne.
The Role
The Trauma Clinical Nurse Consultant is an integral member of the established Trauma Service nursing team. Working closely alongside the trauma program manager and current Clinical Nurse Consultant, this role will:
Focus on the multidisciplinary care of trauma patients.
Actively engage in coordinating trauma-related research and clinical trials
Contribute to education and injury prevention initiatives.
About you
We are seeking a senior nurse clinician to maintain a consistent presence throughout the entire care process, ensuring seamless clinical and procedural coordination for trauma patients and their families from admission to discharge.
Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
Strong clinical expertise. T
Proven track record of meeting deadlines and working autonomously.
Experience in trauma nursing, leadership roles (such as nursing education, ANUM, or in charge positions)
Previous roles as a Clinical Nurse Consultant, and involvement in education and research are essential qualifications for this role
