The Life team provides reinsurance services for the life industry in Australia and New Zealand.
The Life team operates in Retail, Group and Direct markets.
We have expertise in many areas, such as product, pricing, claims management underwriting.
Reporting to the Head of Commercial Strategy & Operations, this is a 12 month secondment opportunity to support Munich Re's commercial and new business growth by:
- Being outcome-focussed
- Developing effective relationships with Treaty Managers at key clients
- Being efficient in the production and maintenance of treaty documents while minimising the risk of incurring unintended liabilities
- Lead Munich Re's process of writing, negotiating and executing treaty documents
- Ensure all treaty documents are high quality (clear/concise, accurate, comprehensive, consistent) & in accordance with local and global requirements
- Efficiently plan, manage priorities & consistently meet agreed/expected timeframes (internal & external)
- Elicit feedback, find practical, pragmatic ways to address issues and obtain signoffs
- Ensure management are aware of the risks of accepting proposed treaty wording
- Provide recommendations as to when external legal advice should be sought
- Ensure that MRA learns from its mistakes, and protect MRA's interests by addressing any related wording issues across other treaty documents
- Maintain and actively improve all elements of the Treaty Process and all related documentation
- IF treaty management, provide timely, accurate and insightful advice to internal teams in respect of MRA's treaty rights and obligations to assist with negotiations, disputes or general queries
- Produce clear, concise management (Commercial LT) and CEO/Board reporting
- Develop standard treaty templates (Retail & Group) that meet MR local and global standards.
- Review tender/offer documents to ensure they meet MR local and global standards/expectations
- Proven track record of treaty or contract negotiations and drafting
- In-depth knowledge of the Australian (re)insurance industry
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation ability
- Ability to make effective decisions, make compromises and find practical solutions
