The Cranbourne Pakenham Racing Club is currently seeking a passionate and driven individual eager to expand their expertise to join our team as a Sports Turf Apprentice. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work alongside our seasoned racecourse professionals, gaining hands-on experience while completing a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management through TAFE.
As a valued member of our racecourse maintenance team, you will play a vital role in preparing and upholding the standards of the racecourse for Sportsbet Pakenham's 36 race meetings, and over 600 horses training at our facility daily.
Your responsibilities as a member of our racecourse maintenance team will encompass a wide range of duties aimed at providing you with comprehensive training in racecourse and sports Turf Management.
These duties include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation and maintenance of both turf and synthetic training and racing surfaces.
- Execution of major renovations on these surfaces when required.
- Operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment necessary for racecourse upkeep.
- Calibration and application of fertilisers and agrichemicals essential for sports turf surfaces.
- Maintenance of grounds and gardens within the facility.
- Collection and record-keeping of data pertinent to training and racing surfaces.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Permanent right to work in Australia.
- Passion for horticulture, turf maintenance, or groundskeeping.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Motivation, punctuality, and reliability.
- Ability to thrive in a physically demanding role.
- Valid driver's license.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor work.
- Dedication and commitment to successfully complete Certificate III in Sports Turf Management.
