Grange Resources is Australia's most experienced magnetite producer from its iron ore mining and pellet production business located in North – West Tasmania.
We are currently seeking an Underground Project Engineer to provide technical and operational support for developing the underground and supporting infrastructure at our Savage River mine site.
This position represents an outstanding opportunity to develop Australia's first underground iron ore block cave mine. This will include sublevel caving and block cave operations, producing 6 to 7 million tonnes of ore with crushing and conveying material handling systems.
The north-west coast of Tasmania offers a wonderful regional lifestyle and is only an hour's flight from Melbourne with regular services from airports at Burnie, Devonport and Launceston.
Ideally, our preferred candidate would reside or wish to reside in Tasmania. However, we are also open to considering FIFO arrangements for suitable candidates.
Responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring that all underground construction activities are carried out safely and in conformance with Grange Resources company policies.
- Assisting in the implementation of Underground Projects, including project planning and scheduling, construction of fixed infrastructure and procurement of equipment
- Providing engineering support for the underground engineering infrastructure, mine dewatering and material handling systems.
- Continually identify and implement opportunities to improve the infrastructure design and schedules.
- Assisting in tendering and contract management for underground mining and construction projects
- Liaising with our open pit team to ensure a smooth interface between underground and open pit activities.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Relevant qualifications in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Mining Engineering
- Previous experience with Underground Project implementation.
- Experience with caving operations (Sublevel Caving or Block Cave) would be beneficial.
- Previous experience with project scheduling and project management would be beneficial.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organisation and reporting skills.
- Current full manual driver's licence.
- Computer literacy in the following software:
- Mine Planning Packages such as Surpac and Deswik
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project
- Navisworks
