Role Purpose
The Underwriting Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Underwriting Team. Responsibilities include training and engagement, maintaining SLAs, contributing to the PRE2 Underwriting Rules Engine maintenance, ensuring underwriting processes are followed, adjusting protections terms, and providing ‘world class’ customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the Underwriting Team by ensuring team members are adhering to underwriting guidelines, following procedure, and delivering excellent customer service;
- Supporting the Product and Underwriting Manager with product development and system configuration;
- Undertaking market research to ensure product competitiveness and understand appropriate risk selection; and
- Managing stakeholder relationships and actively seeking and responding to feedback from stakeholders
Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of underwriting guidelines and processes.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Capricorn PDS and PDS’s in general.
• Ability to analyse and make decisions regarding risks.
• Ability to engage with an array of stakeholders and manage expectations effectively.
• Ability to give and receive feedback effectively, to create positive change, problem solve, show initiative, and be skilfully persistent in creating broad improvement.
• Ability to multitask and manage a high volume of work, and
• Technologically savvy.
Experience
• Five years’ experience in a leadership and underwriting role within an insurance company or alternative.
• Minimum two years’ experience in Commercial Lines.
