About the Role
Our MCH service aims to support all families in Manningham with children 0-6 years. The service operates out of 4 multi-nurse centres and we offer initial home visits, KAS, additional consultations and new parent groups. Sleep and settle as well as Lactation Support initiatives are being rolled out. We offer flexibility for parents through some evening sessions. Some availability to work on a rotating evening roster is a requirement of this role.
The universal service focuses on prevention and detection of physical, developmental, emotional and social factors affecting young children and aims to promote health and development and referral for early intervention. The MCH service also aims to optimise Maternal and family wellbeing with a strong focus on supporting mental health and healthy relationships.
Manningham is a multicultural and diverse community and the MCH nurse is required to have a respectful and inclusive approach towards clients and colleagues.
Nurses work as part of a relatively small but highly skilled team and collaboration and a positive, can do approach is essential for this position.
Skills and Experience
- Current registration as both a registered nurse and midwife on the AHPRA register.
- Post graduate Diploma/Masters in Child and Family Health Nursing.
- An empathetic and holistic approach to practice embracing family centred and strengths based care.
- An ability to utilise appropriate communication tools to effectively communicate with people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and being sensitive to cultural practices and beliefs.
- A demonstrated commitment to participate in continuous improvement, education, professional development, and research activities to increase knowledge and skills.
- Highly developed time management skills and the ability to prioritise and develop achievable work plans.
- Drivers licence valid in Victoria.
