With an average of 100 babies born in Casey every week, our Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Team is growing. You will work across Bunjil place, the variety of Maternal and Child Health Centres within the municipality and in-home visits to best service the community.

A bit about the role
As an Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Nurse you will promote quality of life and independence to vulnerable families with young children 0-3 years. Using your exceptional communication skills, you will promote health and wellbeing, safety, learning and developmental outcomes for children and their families, providing a holistic approach to the physical, emotional and social factors affecting families in contemporary communities. This includes providing current evidence-based information, support, advice and appropriate referrals to help children and families achieve the best outcomes.
You know when intervention is required to support children, parents and families experiencing vulnerability and you have skills to empower them to get smooth and timely engagement with services. Within a team environment you also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of policy, service levels and standards regarding all Maternal and Child Health issues to ensure the long term MCH service needs of City of Casey are met.
This is a Limited Tenure, Parental Leave Opportunity, to 21st March, 2025.

What you’ll deliver
- Outstanding client focused Primary Health Care to diverse and vulnerable families as part of the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Team.
- Non-judgmental casework that includes counselling and support for families.
- Health education and support groups to parents/carers and other service users where there is an identified need.
- Outreach Key Age and Stage Consultations for families who face barriers to attendance in the Universal Service
- Support to additional programs/services such as playgroups, Universal MCH and parenting groups.
What you’ll bring
- Established career as a Maternal Health Nurse as well as general Nursing experience
- Experience supporting families from vulnerable backgrounds with complex needs
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Child & Family Health as recognised in Victoria to practice in Maternal and Child Health
- Current AHPRA Registration as Division 1 Nurse and Midwife
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children, Work rights, Functional Assessment (physio/medical) and Victorian Driver’s License
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
