The Opportunity
The primary responsibilities of this role are to assist the Utilities Services team in the completion of capital works projects on Council’s water and sewerage infrastructure. The role also involves assisting in planned and responsive maintenance of, and repairs to, the water and wastewater treatment facilities and sewerage infrastructure.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in a labouring role with the ability to perform a range of physical labouring duties;
- Experience in the operation of small plant and equipment, manual and powered tools;
- Basic knowledge in the construction maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure such as pipelines, manholes, storage tanks, valve pits and small sewer pump stations;
- Ability to undertake field work to dispose of sludge, clean up wastewater overflow, repair pipes and assist with disinfection of relevant assets, such as sewer drains;
- Possess a friendly and self motivated demeanour with a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal or no direct supervision; and
- Willingness to learn new skills and undertake further training in water and wastewater network management and maintenance.

Level 3 $59,388 per annum plus superannuation.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to safely and competently carry out strenuous labouring and manual handling activities. The position will require the employee to carry out physical tasks which may include manual handling, repetitive bending, kneeling, twisting and/or squatting, lifting, working in confined spaces, and working at heights.
