The Bloomfield Group is a proud and successful Australian mining and engineering group. Australian owned and operated, we have been part of the community for more than 85 years and now employ hundreds of local people.
The Bloomfield Group operates two open-cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. These operations are our Rix’s Creek Mine northwest of Singleton, and our Bloomfield Mine east of Maitland. Coal from the Rix’s Creek Mine and Bloomfield Mine is railed to the Port of Newcastle and loaded onto ships using Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS). Bloomfield is a founding member and shareholder of PWCS, and we proudly own and operate Kings Engineering, a leading NSW Engineering business.
About the role
The Bloomfield Group would like to invite applications for our 2024 / 2025 Vacation Work program as part of our long term focus on the future. The Bloomfield Group has provided opportunities for paid vacation work for many years across a variety of fields, providing a gateway for future employment for a number of our current employees. The program reflects our passion for training and skills development which benefits the individual candidate, the company, and the wider community.
Candidates participating in The Bloomfield Group’s vacation work program can expect to work in a supportive environment where their learning is guided by experienced professionals in their chosen field. Placements will commence approximately late November 2024 for a period up to February 2025.
We are currently seeking interest in the field of Mining Engineering.
Key Responsibilities

• Updating geological model
• Coal reconciliations
• Production statistics
• Time and motion studies
• Haulage calculations

Essential Criteria

• Only students studying approved tertiary courses will be considered.
