Job description

Veterinary Surgeon

Permanent Full Time

(This position is open to applicants on a visa, provided you have completed exams in order to work in Australia on full registration)

Are you a dedicated and experienced veterinary surgeon driven by a passion for delivering excellence in every aspect of your work? Imagine being part of a team where your skills are not only valued, but celebrated, and where your compassion for both people and animals can truly shine. Join a great team supporting Queensland's first carbon-neutral practice, where environmental consciousness is at the heart of everything they do.

And their commitment doesn't stop there! This practice is deeply devoted to the well-being of every animal under their care, making this more than just a workplace—it's a sanctuary of compassion and dedication.

If you are looking to join a team who actively cultivate an inclusive and respectful environment where teamwork, joy, and mutual support are the cornerstones of their practice, look no further.

Located just a short 35-minute drive from Brisbane, you'll be an integral part of this passionate veterinary team, united in their mission to provide exceptional medical care and service to their cherished clients and their beloved pets.

Why should I choose this Veterinarian position?

  • You will be working with a happy collaborative team where numerous employees are long standing (5 – 10 years). Most employees don’t want to leave and quickly become part of the practice family!
  • You will be supported by a team of 15 vets and 37 support staff along with 2 specifically dedicated training and development veterinary team leaders, 1 surgical and 1 medical, so you can learn and develop when you need in house.
  • You will work a four-day week to ensure you keep work life balance.
  • You will even have your own vet coordinator who will do all of your estimates, book in your appointments and surgeries and take care of any external specialist bookings for you.  This provides yourself and your clients with more consistency with one point of contact – and provides you more time to focus on the things you love.
  • This group of privately owned practices provide longer 30-minute consults for patients meaning less chaos and more emphasis on patient care.
  • You will be allocated your own veterinary nurse daily – to improve communication and consistency, providing you more support.
  • You will be provided a professional development allowance of 2,000 per annum – and allowed to accrue this from year to year.
  • You will be provided 5 days paid conference leave each year.
  • You will be working with a team where relationships matter – continually striving for open, effective, and honest communication.  To be clear is to be kind.
  • You will be part of a team who take responsibility for each other and strive for great outcomes.
  • You will have an opportunity to join the practice’s climate care team.
  • You will be provided support and training through the Lincoln Institute and The Webinar Vet, so you become knowledgeable in all things veterinary related to your role including a structured supportive induction.
  • You will be working with a long-standing respectful management team where your ideas are valued, and curiosity is encouraged.
  • You will be working with a team who focus on wellness and have a pantry stocked with healthy food and real coffee machines.
  • There are monthly team meetings to keep everyone informed and up to date.
  • This employer recognises their employees with staff awards, two yearly events and a staff appreciation day yearly.
  • We provide unlimited EAP for yourself, and immediate family members should you ever require that extra bit of support.
  • Salary package based on experience along with laptop
  • Board registration paid for your initial year if relocating to QLD
  • Relocation allowance considered for the right applicant.
  • If you are the right candidate, we will even fly you in for a trial so you can see for yourself what an amazing team this is!
  • What’s not to love?

About you

  • You must be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon where 3 years’ experience would be highly regarded.
  • You must be degree registered in Australia or have completed your veterinary board exams in Australia – with the ability to become registered in QLD.
  • You must be able to work across day/evening and weekend shifts to ensure fairness across the veterinary team.
  • You are flexible, resilient and someone who collaborates.
  • You are confident, approachable, and empathetic.
  • You gain satisfaction from being rewarded for your efforts.
  • You are a great listener with the ability to collaborate, cooperate and compromise.
  • You like opportunities to have regular feedback from your employer so you can grow.
  • You have a great sense of humour – to help keep up the team spirit on the days when things are tough.
  • You are motivated, focused, passionate, and assertive – but know when to ask for help.

This is an exceptional opportunity within a genuinely fabulous team – that won’t last long!

To apply please send your resume and a cover letter, addressing the points above and why you believe you would be a great candidate.

Should you wish to have an initial confidential discussion initially, please don’t hesitate to contact:
