At Mitchelton, our people are the heart of our success, and we are currently on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced Vineyard and Machinery Operator to become a valued member of team.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Vineyard Manager, this hands-on role involves a variety of tasks related to vineyard operations, maintenance, and logistics. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Machinery operation and mechanical aptitude, with an understanding of general vineyard operations
- A track record of successfully learning a range of new tasks and adaptability
- Outstanding work ethic and when required be prepared to operate with flexibility during peak periods
- You will enjoy being challenged by technical information and yet love operating hands on
- Enjoy operating independently and working within a team
- Value a safe working environment and be a supportive teammate
- Enjoy communicating with others in a collaborative manner
- Implementing best practices in vineyard operations and maintenance
- Coordinating the maintenance of all vineyard equipment
- Assisting with annual tasks such as pruning, foliage management, and harvest
- Participating in workplace consultations to ensure best practice compliance
- Promoting and implementing a safety culture within the vineyard
We're looking for an individual with:
- Experience in agriculture, grape growing, or the wine industry
- A valid driver's license (Forklift and heavy rigid truck licenses are advantageous)
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Familiarity with a variety of vineyard tasks and machinery operation
- A Chemical User Permit
- Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and reliability with excellent organisational and communication skills
- A proactive and hardworking mindset, thriving in a small team environment
- The ability to work autonomously when required
- A genuine passion for the wine industry
