We are seeking a Vineyard Operator to work at our Lake View Vineyard located in the Heathcote Wine Region Victoria. Lake View Vineyard is one of the largest wine producing vineyards in Victoria (420ha to be exact), with management of the vineyard recently being taken over by Karrawatta Viticulture. Under the new management, we are looking to build a dynamic team for the future to enable us to carry out a number of exciting, planned upgrades and diversifications.
What the role is
This is a full-time role, with above award remuneration.
Your role will be to conduct the full range of day-to-day viticulture activities from hands on manual tasks (pruning, pest and disease identification, vine training, trellising) to the operation of sophisticated viticultural machinery (barrel pruners, harvesters, multi row equipment) including mixing and application of agrochemicals and use and maintenance of irrigation systems.
You will preferably have previous Mechanical, Irrigation, Viticultural or Agricultural experience. We prioritise workers with practical expertise and who are enthusiastic and hard working. We also want people with a genuine passion for outdoor work. You might even come from another part of agriculture or be a talented farmer who is looking for a more reliable income.
As Karrawatta Viticulture operates in multiple states, you would also have the opportunity (if desired) to work across multiple wine regions.
The nature of our industry is seasonal and at the mercy of mother nature, there is the requirement that some work may take place outside normal working hours, especially during spraying and harvest.
