THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
As a Vineyard Operator, you will play a crucial role in the health and maintenance of our vineyard, contributing to the production of grapes for winemaking. Your responsibilities will include various tasks throughout the year, focusing mostly on operation of machinery and grounds keeping work, but your skills will also allow you to manage the growth and development of the vines, you will engage in hands-on tasks to ensure the health and productivity of the vineyard.
Key duties
- Operate machinery, including but not limited to; Tractor, Spray unit, slasher, telehandler.
- Operate an ATV for movement of supplies, and under-vine spraying and weed control.
- Identify and repair leaks and blockages with irrigation system and pipework.
- Handle, store and accurately measure out various chemicals safely; recording their use in the spray diary ensuring it is up to code.
- Monitor health and growth of vines, suggest key care tasks and assist in identifying potential problems before they become issues.
- Oversee the vineyard and surrounding land, identify work that is needed to be completed and perform these tasks without supervision.
- Help build upon and maintain IDL’s positive team culture.
OHS & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all OHS and Company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all equipment is safe for use and is adequately maintained
- Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of staff by following safe systems of work
- Report any non-conformance to policies and procedures to Cellar Manager
Quality
- Inspect the condition and function of equipment and machinery, reporting issues when they arise.
- Ensure all required paperwork is filled in correctly and accurately.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- A reasonable degree of physical fitness and strength
- A current Victorian driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Previous experience in vineyard work, or training in agriculture/horticulture.
- Must be able to operate a tractor

- Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely.

- Adaptable and have a positive attitude towards change and continuous improvement.
HOURS OF WORK:
This position will range between 10 - 30 hours per week. Working days and times are flexible within reason.
