The Knox School is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational school catering for students from Pre-Prep to Year 12. The Knox School consists of three sub-schools, all on one attractive campus in Wantirna South, Victoria.
The Knox School is seeking a qualified and passionate Music Tutor to teach Violin & Viola. The position includes teaching private lessons P-12, teaching small groups in our Year 2 & 3 and Year 5 - 7 Classroom Strings Programs as well as conducting co-curricular String Ensembles.
A position of responsibility as Head of Strings may be associated with the position, for a suitably qualified and experienced applicant.
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract position, commencing from the start of Term 2, 2024 until 11 December 2024, with the potential for ongoing employment. The school is flexible and willing to consider splitting the role between two suitable applicants by mutual agreement.
About the position:
- Immediate start concluding Wednesday 11 December 2024.
- Teaching days are across all 5 days of the week, Monday to Friday.
- Delivery of high-quality, individual instrumental lessons (Violin and Viola).
- Delivery of Year 5 – 7 String ensemble classes (small groups) on Wednesdays.
- Delivery of Year 2 & 3 Strings Program on Thursdays (small group teaching with other String staff).
- Co-curricular String Ensemble direction.
- The role reports to the Head of Music and Performing Arts.

The ideal candidate:
Must:
- Hold a current National Police Check and a Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Demonstrate a passion for teaching and inspiring children in a school environment.
- Have knowledge and understanding of the School’s obligations in respect of Ministerial Order No. 1359, the Reportable Conduct Scheme, mandatory reporting, record keeping in relation to student safety and wellbeing, the failure to disclose and failure to protect offences (and any other information sharing and reporting obligations that may arise). Training will be provided.
- Be able to gain a working knowledge of and adhere to the School’s policies and student safety practices, including those detailed in the Student Safety at The Knox School Handbook.
- Satisfactorily complete a values-based interview which will assess suitability to work with children and young people, and ensure that children and young people’s rights are respected.
