We are looking for experienced Anaesthesia Professionals to take the next step in their careers by joining our Queen Elizabeth Hospital Team.
About the role
The VMS Anaesthetist will provide a full clinical service to the department of Anaesthesia, based mainly at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The successful applicant will provide care of all patients requiring the services of the Department of Anaesthesia.
The role will include, but is not limited to:
- Providing appropriate specialist level care to patients
- Coordinating the follow up care of patients
- Providing clinical supervision to Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students
- Assisting senior management with the planning and delivery of clinical services to patients
- Fostering the development of community networks approach to Anaesthesia as a whole

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH) is 20 minutes west of the CBD and is a 307 bed acute care teaching hospital, with the ED seeing approximately 125 patients a day, along with a varied surgical and procedural case-mix, except cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, paediatric or obstetric services. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is currently the centrepiece of a $314 million redevelopment project, which includes a purpose-built clinical services building, which is planned to be completed by mid-2024. The new upgrade will include a new ED, in addition new operating theatres, procedural suite, Cardiac Cath lab, medical imaging services and Intensive Care Unit.
