Job description

About the Program

A key recommendation from the Royal Commission emphasised the crucial role of families and carers in not only caring for their loved ones, but also in the overall functioning and sustainability of the mental health system.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centre (MHWCC) will form a vital component of the integrated services provided in the reformed Mental Health and Wellbeing system in Victoria.

Services will be provided primarily by a team of individuals with personal experience as carers, and will offer support to families, carers, kin, and supporters of individuals facing mental health challenges, psychological distress, mental illness, or substance use concerns.

About the role

This is a newly created, rewarding opportunity and is your chance to join a team that will be shaping the future of mental health and wellbeing in Victoria.

As our new Volunteer Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to oversee our team of Volunteers as well as Family and Community Engagement Workers who support families, carers and friends to establish community inclusion, helping to create more welcoming spaces in the community and supporting people to increase their sense of belonging within the community.

With the guidance and support of the Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for recruitment, training, supervision and support your team across South Western Victoria.

This role will see you supporting our Family and Community Engagement Workers to pave the service pathways in the community. You will also facilitate the initial introduction between volunteers, carers and families and work with them to ensure appropriate support is offered in line with their individual action plan. We are looking for a warm-hearted individual who shares our passion for making a difference in the everyday lives of carers; who is an experienced people manager who can inspire and be inspired by our dedicated team of local area champions to ensure they are fully equipped to deliver the best quality service to those in our care.

Requirements

  • Personal lived experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges or psychosocial distress and recovery
  • Certificate IV in social science or related discipline
  • Experience in human services or related sector including individual and community development work
  • National Police Check, Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Orientation Module, NDIS Worker Screening Check, evidence of right to work within Australia.

What we offer

  • Purpose-Driven Culture: Immerse yourself in a culture where passion meets purpose. Here, you can thrive while making a genuine difference. We hold respect for every individual close to our hearts, and we cherish the unique contributions that each person brings to the table.
  • Equitable and Inclusive Work Environment: We take pride in fostering a workplace that's not just diverse, but also equitable and socially inclusive. We value the rich tapestry of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that our team members bring, and we actively promote an atmosphere of inclusion and belonging.
  • Salary Packaging: Enhance your financial well-being with our salary packaging option, which lets you allocate up to $15,899 of your salary for specific expenses before taxes kick in. This means more financial flexibility for you to allocate funds toward things like rent, mortgage payments, or car leasing.
  • Meal and Entertainment Allowance: Indulge in the joys of life with our meal and entertainment allowance, available through salary packaging. You can enjoy up to $2,650 per annum to savor delightful meals and experiences with your loved ones, all while saving on taxes.
  • Employee Assistance Program: We understand that life comes with its challenges, and your well-being is important to us. As part of our commitment to your holistic health, you and your family have access to our Employee Assistance Program. It's a supportive resource designed to help you navigate life's ups and downs with confidence and resilience.

Join us, and not only will you find a fulfilling career, but you'll also discover a host of benefits that enrich your personal and professional life. We're not just offering a job; we're inviting you to be a part of an inclusive, supportive, and purpose-driven community where your well-being and success matter most. Your journey towards a better future starts here.
