About the position:
St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital (SATH) welcomes committed and motivated administration professionals to provide crucial administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of our ward and surgical admission process.  You will be responsible for tasks related to patient care coordination, patient file management and record-keeping, scheduling of patient appointments, data entry, reporting and general administrative support.  Our administration team members are essential in maintaining the organisation and efficiency of our wards and admission pathways. They contribute to the overall patient experience by ensuring the administrative processes are organised, accurate and readily available to our healthcare providers.
  
About you: 
You have a keen willingness to learn and you enjoy working in a clinical fast-paced busy environment, where you will draw on your abilities to multi-skill and provide excellent care and service to patients. You will be a very organised ‘people person’ with excellent communication, administration and computer skills. You will be keen to make your mark by providing quality service to patients, their families, team members and doctors. 
  
Role Accountabilities:
  • Reception duties: answering phones, greeting visitors warmly and enthusiastically and helping with enquiries
  • Management of electronic patient information: utilise various software packages to provide clerical support to clinical staff (Microsoft suite), schedule appointments with patients and private clinics, record patient data in the Electronic Patient Allocation System (EPAS) and manage patient billing and reconciliation.
  • Communication and collaboration: Managing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges and liaising closely with our nurses, doctors, allied health partners and staff and patients to ensure our patients experience excellence in service and care,
  • General administrative duties: Retrieving, filing, tracking and returning medical records as required in a timely manner whilst always ensuring confidentiality
Your Experience and Skills:
  • Administration skills
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft suite of products
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a busy work environment
  • Work confidentiality with patient information
  • Confident to use your initiative
Desirable:
  • Previous Ward Clerk experience (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a medical practice processing medical/surgical information
  • Previous experience or familiarity with electronic patients management systems
