Warehouse and Coolrooms Manager

SEAWAY is seeking to hire a talented and highly skilled Warehouse & Cool Room Manager to oversee the operations of our Merbein Warehouse and cool rooms. You will be responsible for managing a team of supervisors and forklift/warehouse operators as well as maintaining an efficient, effective and safe workplace. 

To be successful in this position, our ideal candidate will have experience managing and leading a team, excellent planning and organisational skills, and have demonstrated skills in managing high peak seasonal demands. In addition, we are seeking candidates with experience working in the perishable freight sector so they can hit the ground running.

The Role 

Responsibilities of the Warehouse and Cool Room Manager:

• Set the standard for all team members including but not limited to OH&S and general conduct 
• Assign and distribute tasks to staff members and ensure staff are trained appropriately 
• Manage staff rosters and coordinate leave requests 
• Monitor and manage staff performance and engagement 
• Hold Toolbox meetings and actively promote OH&S initiatives, procedures and protocols 
• Continually oversee site operations and identify efficiencies
• Ensure containers and trailers and packed & loaded in line with KPIs
• Ensure warehouse, cool rooms, equipment and site infrastructure are all maintained 
• Ensure all required paperwork is completed for shipments accurately and within required timeframes 
• Effective liaison with internal teams to maintain overall site productivity 
• Develop and implement SOPs 
• Stock control and system/database management
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and external stakeholders 
• Act as primary point of escalation for team members 
• Provide back-up to team members when required

  
About YouRequired skills and experience: 

• At least 3-4 years warehouse operations experience involving perishable cargo 
• Experience managing or leading a team in a warehouse environment and an innate ability to understand and lead people
• Flexible approach to working hours and capable of managing seasonal peaks 
• Current Driver’s Licence 
• Intermediate computer literacy 
• Strong planning and organisational skills 
• Personable and approachable 
• Excellent problem-solving skills 
• Intermediate knowledge of OH&S regulations and procedures as well as an avid supporter of safety initiatives
