Warehouse Leading Hand

The Role 

The Warehouse Leading Hand is responsible for the management and coordinator of daily warehouse functions, from the receipt of goods to loading trucks for delivery. This position will play a critical role in enhancing safety and quality standards, productivity and customer service, to achieve DIFOT (delivery in full, on time) targets. 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

• Ensure the effective and efficient performance of the warehouse functions and staff, by planning and coordinating the activities of the team; 
• Manage the flow of goods ensuring inventory accuracy, and implementing process improvements across the operation; 
• Inventory control, including conducting regular stock checks, in accordance with the policy. 
• Aim to achieve delivery in full, on time through most efficient practices;
• Extract data and present reports, when required; 
• Drive and instill a culture of compliance with WH&S practices, develop and ensure SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) are set and kept up to date; 
• Provide leadership and develop all team members in the warehouse; 
• Comply with regulatory standards;
• Other tasks as required by the Head of Operations and Supply Chain. 

About You

Qualifications and experience: 

• A minimum of 4 years' practical experience working within a warehouse or logistics function (preferably within a manufacturing type environment);
• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end warehousing and leading a warehouse team; 
• Certificate in a supply management, logistics, operations or similar would be highly regarded; 
• Experience in identifying areas for continuous improvement and knowledge / understanding of 5s (housekeeping system), will be highly regarded;
• Experience with ERP (Netsuite or similar) or warehousing management systems and intermediate computer skills;
• Forklift licence.
