We are a national Stainless Steel distributor looking for an energetic, hands-on Warehouse Supervisor to join our dynamic and close-knit Brisbane team.
The Warehouse Supervisor is a key role, liaising closely with sales staff, management and warehouse staff to achieve the goals of the business. This is an opportunity to be part of something, contribute to the growth of the branch and share in its success.
The role would suit an experienced and enthusiastic Warehouse Supervisor with strong leadership ability who understands how to work with others to achieve the needs of the business. It would also suit an experienced and ambitious store-person/2IC with leadership potential, who is looking for the opportunity to take on a leadership role.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Managing goods inwards & outwards physically and using computerised system – this requires liaising with several stakeholders (sales staff, store staff, transport companies, shipping companies, customers management) regarding timing and requirements
- Responsible for regular stocktakes and the accuracy of stock in the warehouse
- Managing and developing warehouse staff (currently one storeman and one driver/storeman) and ensuring the team is united and motivated to achieve the goals of the business
- Forklift operating
- Picking and packing
- Truck loading and unloading
- Planning and coordination of fleet truck/s and external transport and optimising movements so as to minimise transport costs
- Maintenance of plant and equipment
- Ongoing improvement of the warehouse in terms of layout and efficiency
- Ensuring a clean and safe working environment inside and outside the warehouse
- Ad hoc duties as required
Skills & Experience:
- Current forklift licence
- Current medium rigid truck licence would be highly regarded
- Computer literacy
- Warehouse management (or 2IC) experience
- Warehouse experience in steel industry would be highly regarded
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving skills
