Our Vacancy
The Wastewater and Reuse Engineer (WWR) role provides technical, process and general engineering support to the Wastewater Plant Operations team. With a focus on optimising plant operation with consideration to operator duties, chemical and power use, residuals management, and performance targets in close consultation with the Plant Manager. The WWR provides and maintains up to date source of expertise, leads and supports the planning, execution, and delivery of pilot trials, operational efficiency initiatives and R&D projects. Providing technical support to the Plant Manager and Plant Supervisors in achieving desired plant performance.
Your primary duties will include:
- Develop with the Plant Manager and Plant Supervisors detailed understanding of the contractual performance framework (change events, KPIs and modifiers) throughout the Wastewater and Reuse group.
- Monitor plant performance and undertake process reviews with Plant Manager, Supervisors and Process Technicians.
- Provide technical support to assist with achieving plant performance targets and solving operational issues.
- Provide technical and management support to assist with meeting on-going licence and contract requirements.
- Provide technical support to assist with development and implementation of optimisation plans.
- Maintain plant specific process models; provide an ongoing review of the outputs.
- Undertake incident management and incident reporting duties.
- Assist operational interface and provide support to Capital Works projects in relation to the Capital Works programme of SA Water.
- Ensure that plant processes are optimised to achieve energy targets and other energy efficiencies are identified and implemented.
- Support the achievement of treatment plants performance through optimisation of existing processes and testing / implementation of new solutions and technologies.
- Provide technical and operational support to SA Water R&D organisation.
- Lead and/or contribute to the planning and execution of pilot trials targeting operational improvement.
- Work collaboratively in the identification and implementation of operational improvement initiatives and projects.
- Support the deployment of dedicated operational decision aid applications.
- Assist in aspects of budget development.
- Review and monitor the operational performance against the budget and ensure the plant operates efficiently and within the agreed budget.
- Provide input and reporting to the ASD P&T Alliance Management Team and SA Water where applicable, on process and technical issues.
- Manage interface and negotiations with SA Water and PMP capital works.
What you can bring to the team?
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree (civil, chemical, water, hydraulics, mechanical, environmental) or equivalent.
- Experience in any of the following: operation and maintenance, design, construction, installation, and commissioning of wastewater treatment infrastructure.
- Ability to communicate clearly both in written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
