As part of our new Adelaide Service Delivery alliance partnership with SA Water to improve outcomes for its customers, we’re building an Adelaide Production & Treatment workforce responsible for operating five water treatment plans and five wastewater treatment plants.

Working in partnership with SA Water as one brand and one team, our embedded Adelaide Production & Treatment alliance team will enable a safe and engaged workforce to meet SA Water’s customer service targets and regulated responsibilities at the lowest sustainable cost for Adelaide customers. Our Vacancy

The Senior Wastewater and Reuse Engineer (WWR) role provides technical, process and general engineering support to the Wastewater Plant Operations team. The role focuses on optimising plant operation considering operator duties, chemical and power use, residuals management and performance targets. The Senior WWR Engineer leads and supports the planning, execution and delivery of operational efficiency initiatives, pilot trials and R&D projects.

As the Senior of a group of four WWR Engineers (located across both the north & south WWR plants), the Senior WWR Engineer will also be expected to provide general support to any optimisation projects that span across multiple WWR sites, as well as providing expertise, guidance, and support to the broader group of WWR Engineers as and when required.

Your primary duties will include:

  • To provide all aspects of engineering support to the Operations Team to ensure the efficient operation of the P&T Alliance’s Wastewater and Reuse treatment plants and to ensure that plant performance targets are met.
  • Develop and implement improvement projects to contribute to reducing operating costs, improving treatment process performance and enhancing process capacity.
  • Liaise with other areas of the ASD P&T Alliance and SA Water to assist with engineering requirements.
  • Provide technical support to achieve plant performance targets and solving operation issues.
  • Support with meeting in-going licence and contract requirements (e.g. reporting and incident management).
  • Develop technical documentation and training as required.
  • Lead in the planning, executing, and delivering projects and increasing operational efficiencies.
  • Work collaboratively to identify and implement operational improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Support the achievement of sustainable improvements in treatment plant performance through optimisation of existing processes and testing / implementation of new solutions and technologies.
  • Contribute to the protection of the safety and wellbeing of the staff, subcontractors and visitors to the P&T Alliance.
  • Review, monitor, and continually identify cost savings and opportunities with the optimisation of projects and develop financial business cases.
  • Ensure efficient and safe operations within the agree budget in conjunction with the Wastewater and Reuse Manager.

What you can bring to the team?

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (civil, chemical, water, hydraulics, mechanical, environmental) or equivalent.
  • 5 + years’ experience in any of the following: operation and maintenance, design, construction, installation, and commissioning of wastewater treatment infrastructure.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both in written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence.
