Job description

Why Streamology?

Streamology is a small, niche environmental consulting company experiencing growth – the industry seems to appreciate what we are seeking to achieve. As a result, there’s always a lot to do. Things move fast, and we need to work as a team to make the best decisions on a host of project and business-related challenges. You will not be a passenger, instead you will be integral to driving the company’s success. We believe in doing things differently, challenging current paradigms, and daring greatly. We understand that we are continually learning and striving for continual improvement. We are energised by innovation and working in an adult environment, placing the utmost responsibility and trust upon each of us at the individual level.

Why you?

  • You see that Streamology’s approach is the reason why the company is becoming the leader in strategic urban water and waterway management projects, and you are excited to become an important part of this.
  • You have the capability, passion, and enthusiasm to be integral to the water and waterway industry.
  • You have technical skills – being able to consider the problems at all scales – to converse at all levels of water and waterway management.
  • You can do the grunt work and you know the right end of a range of modelling tools and techniques.

What’s on Offer?

  • The opportunity to contribute to industry-changing approaches to managing water and waterways.
  • Further development of your technical skills and experience from in-house experts in the field, and ongoing collaborations with universities and specialists.
  • A fun, safe, engaging, and fast-paced workplace.
  • Flexible workplace arrangements, working from the Carlton North office at times (an office relocation to CBD/Docklands area is being considered in the next 6 months). The position may also involve fieldwork particularly in Melbourne, regional Victoria, and interstate.
  • Flexibility to enjoy your lifestyle and the environment in which we live and work.
  • An idea meritocracy that values your opinions and ideas - lateral thinking, vision and foresight is highly valued at Streamology.

Position Overview

This position forms a core element of the Streamology consulting team and allows the right candidate to play a fundamental role in achieving the outcome of healthier waterway environments.

The position is required to work in and even manage teams, liaise with clients, and contribute to the delivery of projects. This position will cover a broad spectrum of projects, with a specific focus on waterway hydrology, hydraulic modelling, waterway management structures and design.

What do you need to excel in this role?

  • Skills and experience in Waterway Engineering and design (minimum of 4-5 years).
  • Proficiency and experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling of both natural and engineered waterways, including use of design and modelling packages such as 12d, RORB, HEC RAS and TUFLOW.
  • Engineering skills to deliver concept, functional and detailed design of waterway management structures including traditional and green infrastructure and nature-based design.
  • A team player, flexible attitude with a will and ability to get the job done.
  • An ability to think about waterway systems at a range of scales.
  • Sound verbal and written communications skills.

How to apply?
