About the role:
The Web Content Editor is responsible for planning, overseeing and coordinating digital content development and production across web channels, to amplify the impact of Deakin's research, to build reputation and brand and generate demand for Higher Degree Research (HDR).
The role oversees Web Content publishing needs for range of research and innovation initiatives and works collaboratively with content writers, freelance content contributors, and research experts to develop and curate compelling and engaging content for the Deakin website and research content hub.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the overall quality and consistency of Deakin's research content, ensuring that the website effectively engages audiences and aligns with strategic priorities. The Web Content Editor will manage the ongoing maintenance of Web Content review and work collaboratively with the Web Content Writer, the Public Web Team and broader Marketing Division, as well as Deakin's research stakeholder community, to ensure the public facing research website remains up-to-date and meets changing needs and hub goals.
As a Web Content Editor you will:

  • Oversee Web Content publishing needs for range of research and innovation initiatives and work collaboratively with content writers, freelance content contributors, and research experts
  • Manage the ongoing maintenance of Web Content review and work collaboratively with the Web Content Writer, the Public Web Team and broader Marketing Division, as well as Deakin's research stakeholder community
In a typical month you will:
  • Produce and manage the content schedule to ensure we are updating current content as well as delivering new content to deliver on content gaps
  • Manage and distribute the editorial workload to among yourself and the Web Content writer, ensuring standards and schedules are met
  • Implement competitor analysis to input into the annual content plan on a quarterly basis, including gap and keyword analysis
  • Possess SEO experience to implement best practice SEO techniques in all content across the website, whilst using SEO tools to complete keyword research
  • Receive and understand briefs from internal stakeholders, briefing this work out to our Web Content Writer and taking on work as required, editing, proofreading and approving all content before it goes live
To be successful, you'll have:
  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Proven work experience as a Web Content Editor.
  • An understanding and experience in creating content for education audiences, including children, educators and/or parents/carers.
  • Editing skills with a demonstrable portfolio of published work.
  • Hands on experience with systems including InDesign, Photoshop and other digital content creation tools.
