We have a permanent opportunity based in Karratha for an experienced Welder/Fabricator Tradesperson. You will be responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled (breakdown) maintenance and fabrication tasks for the region including working outdoors in the field, installing new assets and general maintenance requirements. Additionally you will be required to be using your fabrication skills with a range of equipment and welding processes.

What the role will involve: 

• Perform welding to a standard under AS3992 Pressure equipment-Welding and brazing qualification and AS1554-Structural steel welding.
• Make decisions about worksite priorities as well as contractor supervision and on the job training to apprentices.
• Conduct assessments, monitor asset condition and complete routine pipeline maintenance, burst repairs and prevention. 
• Plan and prepare for maintenance tasks on isolated assets.
• Plan work and solve water operational problems including advice from engineers for complex problems.
• Scope coordination – Planning, Resourcing, Managing suppliers/contractors.
• Interpreting complex technical documentation for new components and equipment

Key skills and experience: 

We are seeking a Fabrication Trade qualified candidate, ideally possessing strong experience in: 

• Aluminium and Stainless-steel fabrication/welding.
• Welding with FCAW NR211 Inner shield wire. 
• Fabrication of structural and piping scopes of work.

Your dedication to Occupational Health and Safety including hazard identification and well developed communication skills are essential for this position along with the following:

• Current ‘MR/HR’ drivers Licence
• Relevant High Risk Licenses
• Demonstrated experience in Fabrication and welding water pipework in the field (desirable)
• Ability to work on a standby roster
• Ability to work autonomously and part of a team to ensure operational and maintenance outcomes are achieved.
