Welding Supervisor

This includes the provision of engineered products from design drawings, manufacture & fabrication, surface treatment and QA/QC and the provision of end-to-end services spanning design, manufacture, fabrication, construction, installation and on-site commissioning

The Role

We are searching for an experienced Welding Supervisor who will be responsible for the general fabrication of structural steel and piping in our Roxby Downs Workshop. The ideal candidate will have relevant, piping and fabrication experience and can confidently lead a growing team. The candidate should be a role model for culture and behavior in the team. The role reports to the GM – Roxby Downs.

Key Responsibilities  

• Understanding BHP specifications and standards
• Quality control, mid-production and final pre-delivery checks 
• Production hours management
• Scheduling and labour management 
• Pre-fabrication checks to be completed on all incoming work packs (Working with Workshop Supervisor and Leading Hands)
• Team performance reviews and improvement 
• Material Management (stock takes on upcoming Jobs)
• Team culture development and engagement
• Customer relationship management 
• Support the preparation of estimates and quotations for future work 

Workshop Supervisor Essential Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in supervision of structural steel fabrication and or pipe fabrication across a variety of materials (carbon steel, stainless, duplex)
• Understanding of BHP Specifications and procedures highly desirable
• Relevant trade qualification – Certification 10 Welding
• Drives a strong culture: a team player who works well with direct reports, peers and senior management to achieve the best outcome for the team and the business
• Great time management and communication skills
• Exceptional safety standards
• Dynamic working abilities 
• Positive leadership style and attitude
