Position Type: Part Time ongoing - 15 hours per week
The Wellbeing Officer plays a vital role in fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants within the Diamond Valley Basketball Association, including players, coaches, staff, and referees. This role involves proactive engagement to ensure their well-being and adherence to Child Safety protocols. The Wellbeing Officer will also be responsible for Incident and Tribunal Management of senior and junior domestic competitions.

Duties:
Child Safety and Wellbeing
- Maintain a visible presence to provide support and address any concerns from players, coaches, staff, and referees.
- Investigate and report any Child Safety issues brought to the attention of the Wellbeing Officer, Child Safety Officer, Director of Coaching, or any other association member.
- Mediate conflicts arising between Junior Rep coaches, players, families, and referees.
- Attend Junior Rep team meetings as directed by the Director of Coaching.
- Meet with families upon request to discuss their child's well-being needs.
- Educate Junior Rep coaches on creating child-safe environments.
- Educate Junior Domestic Clubs on creating child-safe environments.
- Equip Junior Rep coaches with strategies and support for managing players with mental health conditions or neurodiversity.
- Provide critical incident response support to club delegates in case of serious incidents involving their teams or players.
- Provide written reports to the General Manager detailing reported incidents and follow-up actions taken.
- Liaise with Basketball Victoria Child Safety Officer and DVBA General Manager where required.
Incident and Tribunal Management
- Investigate club and referee incident reports and follow through procedure accordingly.
- Follow through administrative procedure for Tribunal reports and act a Hearings Officer if required.
