About The Role:

The Child Safety Officer will undertake significant creative, strategic planning and management to develop organisation wide action plans for continuous improvement best practices objectives, with a focus on ensuring the professionalism of operational and developmental activities to promote compliance with the Child Safe Standards. This includes:

  • Be the point of reference for reporting of Child Safe issues and subsequent record keeping, to oversee Child Safety concerns/issues to resolution.
  • Advise on responding legally, ethically and in accordance with Policy and Procedure in regards CSS matters and relevant Child Safety legislation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of CSS policy and procedures, staying current with legal requirements and best practice methodologies.
  • Design, develop and deliver CSS staff development, socialisation improvement programs as deemed appropriate

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in behavioural sciences, social science, welfare, or education; an appropriate major in Psychology; post-graduate qualification in counselling with eligibility for membership to one or more of the following:
    • Australian Psychological Society (APS)
    • Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
    • Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia
    • (PACFA) or
    • Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
  • Evidence of training in or familiarity with a range of relevant therapies and legislation

Things we will require from you:

  • Relevant compliance documents including Working with Children Clearance (WWCC), current police check, certified right to work documentation
