Peer/Wellbeing Coach

Position details

  • Full Time Permanent
  • Classification: SCHADS Level 3 with a salary range of $71,215 - $76,353 per annum Superannuation
  • Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year
  • Location: Living and Learning Centre, Strathpine QLD

About your new role

Wellbeing Coaches will be part of a multidisciplinary team made up of Mental Health Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and Wellbeing Coaches and Peer Coaches. The Wellbeing Coach will deliver individual psychosocial support for consumers, in addition to group facilitation of self-development programs.

Wellbeing Coaches utilise Neami's Collaborative Relational Practice and its underlining principles, to support consumers to improve their overall mental health and wellbeing.

Wellbeing Coaches will assist consumers to build on their informal supports and ensure appropriate services linkages for formal supports (including but not limited to NDIS, Housing, Centrelink applications). As well as providing consumer with useful practical resources that will assist them in managing their wellbeing in the future.

What you will bring to the role

Essential

· Personal lived/living experience of recovery as a family, friend or carer. Your recovery experience may be related to mental health, suicidal crisis, drugs and alcohol use or trauma

· Willingness to identify or be identified by others as a professional with lived experience of recovery

· Willingness to share and draw on lived experience purposefully in the role to instill confidence and hope in others about the journey of recovery

Desirable

· Experience and qualification in mental health and community services is desirable.

· Experience and knowledge of the housing sector will be an advantage.

· A strong understanding of supporting people experiencing emotional distress through their recovery journey; and an ability to articulate and promote the value of and strengths gained from lived experiences of recovery

· Ability to role-model and develop recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices across the service.

· Demonstrate integrity, credibility, and ability to foster open communication

· Ability to work productively in a fast paced, changing, and dynamic environment

  • National Criminal History Check (police check) - disclosable outcomes considered
