About the role

The Role

The Wellness & Lifestyle Officer is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of leisure and social opportunities in conjunction with residents, families and other members of the healthcare team.  This includes program plan development, and input into lifestyle expenditure.  The role also includes working collaboratively with clinical staff in providing guidance to  Support Workers to ensure our residents are encouraged to actively participate in leisure activities of interest to them, and residents' other needs, such as emotional, social, cultural and spiritual needs are also supported.

As a focused, highly organised, and a self-motivated Wellness & Lifestyle Officer, you will be required to plan, develop, and deliver an innovative activities program for our residents.  As a person who can build and maintain relationships, you will be required to work closely with allied health professionals, nursing and care staff. More importantly you will possess a positive demeanor and warm smile to brighten the day of our residents.  You must be able to relate and communicate well to older people particularly those living with dementia or a disability.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you must have experience working with elderly people  It would be beneficial if you have a qualification relevant to Community Services (Leisure and Health), Diversional Therapy or equivalent and/or willingness to obtain.  

You will have:

  • the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders through connected and mindful communication and your ability to promote respect, dignity, trust and encouragement towards your clients.
  • experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative lifestyle events and the ability to increase resident participation in these events.

A current WA Driver's License, a National Police Clearance are prerequisites for all positions with Yaandina Community Services.
