About Mawarnkarra Health Service (MHS)

Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider providing direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides the families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

Delivering quality medical services to improve the physical, spiritual, cultural, social and emotional wellbeing for families. The Position

The role of the Men's Outreach Worker is to ensure that the program objectives are met whilst working under the supervision and direction of Programs Manager. The focus is to meet the needs of the target community by providing social and emotional wellbeing support and services, including access services principally to men within the community. This will be achieved by working in Programs team environment, coordinating and collaborating with other Programs team members and planning the delivery of services including monitoring and evaluating outcomes to achieve stakeholder compliance.

DUTIES

Community Figure Responsibilities

Community Liaison

  • Establish strong links in the broader Aboriginal community for the purpose of establishing connections and providing community referrals to services both in house and where required.

Administration and Support

  • Provide input and feedback to the MHS team on any issues.
  • Work with the Programs Manager to ensure compliance for funding bodies

Teamwork and Program Implementation

  • Work collaboratively to achieve outcomes for the program and the community.

Feedback and Access

  • Provide input and feedback on how to appropriately address issues for the key target demographic groups.

Program Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Programs Manager to write a targeted action plan for the implementation of the program addressing the key demographic groups.
  • Meet regularly with the Programs Manager to report on progress and implementation of the program.
  • Collect data daily and report on data at least weekly.

Resources

  • Use of an allocated vehicle during work hours and for work purposes only.
  • Comply with the policies and procedures for the use of Mawarnkarra Health Services vehicles, phones, resources and assets.

Professional and other responsibilities

  • Participate positively in the work of MHS.
  • Undertake any task not included in this position description that is reasonably requested and required.
  • Participate in cross program activities as directed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct.
  • Contribute to the achievement objectives of the service.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with all Mawarnkarra policies and procedures at all times.
  • Participate in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as directed by managers.

Other Information

  • Consent to a Working with Children Check, a National Police Certificate 
  • Current Driver’s License.
  • Current CPR Certificate.
  • COVID-19 Vaccinated. (triple vax as per government mandate for all health care workers)
  • All employees are subject to regular random drug and alcohol screening.

Remuneration Benefits include:

  • This is a parttime position, base Salary $30 per hour + Allowances
  • Superannuation 11%
  • You will have access to generous salary sacrificing (pre-tax dollars)
