This role offers a unique opportunity to support two Landscape Boards to develop and implement a Work Health Safety Framework that includes a suite of policies and procedures, critical risk assessments, worksite inspections and audits as well as training staff to instil and maintain a safety culture that is led from the top down.
About the Landscape Boards
Through the Landscape South Australia Act 2019 (Landscape Act), eight regional landscape boards and Green Adelaide work with partners to deliver practical, on-ground programs to manage landscapes. They invest landscape levies into regional priority issues as well as leveraging external funding towards managing and protecting our productive and natural landscapes.
This role supports two of those boards – the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board and the Limestone Coast Board.
About the Role
The WHS Project Officer will assist each landscape board to develop a framework that complies with the WHS Act, the Return to Work Act and other relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice. This will be done through the development of WHS policies, procedures, maintenance schedules and safe work procedures for all equipment. The position liaises with key stakeholders including management teams, their health and safety committees and business managers to report on findings and manage critical risks.
The role may be undertaken in any of the offices within the Murraylands and Riverland and Limestone Coast region, including Berri, Murray Bridge, Naracoorte or Mt Gambier. The successful applicant will report to the Business Manager of the board where the office is located. There will also be opportunities to travel between the two regions to engage with staff face to face.
About You
We are seeking a candidate with proven experience in the development of corporate policy and procedure documents. The ability to manage your own work to achieve expected outcomes. You will have demonstrated experience in change management and continuous improvement, and have the ability to engage, influence and collaborate with people at all levels.
While a tertiary qualification in policy, work health and safety, law or business is highly desirable your current knowledge of legislation, best practice and developing trends in the field of work, health and safety is essential.
