The opportunity
We are seeking a professional, experienced and passionate Workplace Health Safety and Environment (WHSE) Manager to join our team, based at our Dandenong South manufacturing site. Reporting to the National Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for the ongoing management, administration, planning, monitoring and delivery of comprehensive Workplace Health, Safety and Environmental systems.
The successful applicant will be accountable for taking an overarching view of a mature site which includes manufacturing, warehousing and distribution. With passion and focus on continuous improvement in a dynamic environment, you will be able to assess and manage risk in a pragmatic manner and will be confident in providing technical expertise, advice, support and direction for all Oceania Glass sites.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety framework
- Establish and maintain environmental policies and procedures
- Coordinate the reporting of incidents and hazards, and coordinating necessary corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with all legislation, including chain of responsibility etc.
- Coach, lead and build capability to empower staff regarding WHSE requirements
- Promote WHSE in workplace communications
- Maintain safety software system database
- Conduct/coordinate internal and external audits
- Manage incident investigations, risk assessments and corrective actions including database management
Skills & Experience
- Considerable experience in a safety management role
- Experience within a heavy engineering and/or large-scale manufacturing environment
- Solid understanding of legislative requirements
- Exposure working in a robust employee relations environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven change management skills
- Formal WHSE qualifications
- Experience in conducting investigations
- Ability to motivate and influence a long standing workforce
