Job description

About Us:
The Kalleske family have been farming and growing grapes since 1853 near the village of Greenock, in South Australia’s, Barossa Valley. They are one of the region’s leading grape-growing families consistently growing some of the Barossa’s best quality grapes and after six generations of growing grapes, winemaker and seventh generation family member, Troy Kalleske, together with his brother Tony, established the Kalleske winery in 2002. The winery is situated on the family estate where traditional winemaking techniques ensure the vineyard realises its full potential as wine.

Since their first wine release in 2004, Kalleske has rapidly gained a reputation for producing top-quality, hand crafted, certified organic and biodynamic wines and are committed to continue making a diverse mix of wines that showcase the splendid Kalleske grapes.  Wines are sold across Australia and into all main overseas markets.

Kalleske Cellar Door is located on Murray Street in Greenock offering the full range of Kalleske award winning organic wines for tasting, as well as regional produce platters, tasting experiences plus private tastings and winery tours.

About The Role:

We require a fit, self-motivated and enthusiastic person to be responsible for, and hands on in the day-to-day duties of our wine business.  Approximately half of the time will see you undertaking cellar hand work in the winery including barrel work, transfers, taking samples, blending wines, general cleaning and vintage work.  Our warehouse is on site with trade orders dispatched several times a week.  Picking and packing orders will require you to stack cartons of wine to pallets, loading and unloading trucks, and general stock movements using a forklift.  Getting dry goods such as cartons, caps and labels ready for bottlings is also part of this role as is restocking our cellar door wine room.  Our cellar door garden requires general upkeep such as mowing, trimming plants, weeding, topping up bark chips and regular clean up with a leaf blower.  General pickup of goods from local suppliers and delivery of local orders are also required.

  • Each week will include a variety of tasks with time spent in the winery, warehouse and garden - you won't be bored!

About you:

Physically fit and happy to work either indoors or outdoors, and someone looking for an interesting and diverse position undertaking a mix of duties.  Manual handling is part of this role with dexterity and agility required, along with accuracy for picking orders.  A general interest in wine and gardening will hold you in good stead, as will previous forklift operating experience.  We are willing to train the right person if you are keen to learn.

  • A car and forklift licence are required
  • A keen eye for detail and pride in your work
  • Able to work autonomously, and also enjoy working as a part of a team
  • Seeking a long term role

Hours:

  • 5 days per week Monday - Friday (generally 8am – 4pm)
  • Longer hours during vintage, overtime available

What to Expect:

An enjoyable working environment for a well-recognised brand and a happy, positive, and helpful culture.  Training, generous staff discounts, wine allowance, lunches, tastings, and platters are all part of it as we like to have some fun and enjoy each other’s company too!  This key full time permanent appointment is an interesting and exciting opportunity and plays a vital part in the future ongoing success of Kalleske Wines.

  • Apply:

If this sounds appealing and you are looking to move your career forward working in a diverse role with a dynamic brand, then we would love to hear from you.  Please, include your resume and supporting letter outlining skills, knowledge, and experience to *******@kalleske.com and why you are a good fit for our team, this role and why you would like to come and join us.

Phone inquiries to Tony are welcome on 8563 4000.
