Curis Recruitment is thrilled to collaborate with this exceptional Aboriginal Health Service located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia in their search for a dedicated and experienced Sexual Health Nurse to join their team.
Role Overview:
As a Sexual Health Nurse, you will play a crucial role in enhancing health outcomes for Aboriginal individuals. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting tests for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBVs) among the at-risk population across Port Hedland, South Hedland, and outreach areas. This initiative is in response to a Syphilis outbreak and endemic levels of other STIs, and will be achieved by supporting the existing comprehensive primary health care approach.

• Permanent position preferred, however, consideration can be given to a six-month fixed-term contract.

Women's Health Duties:

• Collaborate with the Midwife to conduct STI screening for antenatal patients.
• Promote Sexual Health education within the community in collaboration with the Population Health team.
• Coordinate Sexual Health education updates and training sessions for staff members.
• Participate in networking events and conferences relevant to Sexual Health and Aboriginal health.
• Partner with external stakeholders, including the Well Women’s Centre, to facilitate and manage women’s business clinics.
• Advocate for clients and provide support to encourage their active engagement.

Essential Criteria

• Nursing/Midwifery qualification.
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).
• Demonstrated understanding of relevant clinical and social issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Proficiency in administering medications, injections, and blood samples, as well as explaining required tests to clients.
• Have a valid driver’s license
• National police clearance.
• Current working with children check card (Western Australia) or ability to obtain one
