You will be working for a well established wood machining company based in the southern suburbs of Melbourne. With over 25 years in the business, they are now expanding their team and would like to introduce a new Wood Machinist to the company.

The friendly staff strive for excellence, with plenty of experience in custom machining, to very exact specifications. They are responsible for all timber processes, including sanding, coating, charring and laminating. With a team of 25 in the factory, you will be surrounded by experienced tradespeople with a great work ethic, and will be working in a new well-maintained factory.

Your new role

We are looking for an experienced Wood Machinist, with the ability to lead a team. The role will involve:

- Planning production jobs into machine centres and organising tooling

- Tool setting and tool grinding

- Tool change and machine set up

- Working in the infeeds and outfeeds of Weinig Moulders

- Machine Maintenance

- Administrative tasks to interpret orders and customer profiles as needed

- Manual handling

- Sorting, stacking and strapping timber packs

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should have the below skills and experience:

- Qualification in Wood Machining is preferred but not essential (Experience required with no qualification)

- Familiarity with Weinig Powerlock, Powercom Systems, or at least 1 year experience with moulders

- Knowledge of tool setting and grinding

- Ability to do tool changes for profiles, tongue and groove flooring, cladding and DAR

- Ability to interpret customer orders in factory job cards and cutting lists

- Experience sustaining long production runs and multiple tool changes

- Clean communication skills

- Ability to interpret drawings

- Experience using AutoCad (Drawing profiles, detaining and ordering cutters) OR experience with manual drawings

- Maintaining the product catalogue and tooling
